Goalkeepers need the following equipment and occurs usually in that order. Some people can make it different, but it is impossible to look very different.
1) Cup (the largest piece of equipment!)
Garter 2) and socks
- Some people wear shorts with Velcro tabs to keep socks on and built into a cup.
3) Hockey Pants
Skates 4)
Leg Pads 5)
6) Chest
7) helmet or mask
8) Gloves

There are different types of backups. Kick save, save, glove, the blocker save, save, stick, etc. Some links are probably a little more relevant. These contain information about styles and goalkeeper only certain cases.
